Spent mushroom substrate made from straw, coffee grounds (non-organic), beetroot pellets and wood chips.
It's excellent for use as a strulch alternative, for mulching to suppress weeds, and for keeping in moisture.
Because of the mycelial content, it's also great for bulking up compost bins.
Our supplier, Crate2plate, uses this substrate to grow Oyster and Lion's Mane mushrooms, which it then sells to Michelin-starred restaurants.
Disclaimer: Although we do our best to break up the substrate before packaging, it will still contain Oyster and Lion's Mane mushroom spores. If exposed to the right conditions, you may get some extra growth in your beds.
