Niwaki Hori Hori
Probably the best gardening tool.
Does anything from planting bulbs, lifting weeds, or dividing perennials.
The carbon steel blade runs right into the handle, so it’s tough and strong, but not indestructible. Don’t stick it into heavy soil and yank back hard.
Niwaki and we strongly advise that you keep this tool concealed, sheathed, and out of sight in public spaces – preferably in a gardening bag or toolbox rather than on your belt.
Luckily it comes with a canvas sheath, but it's best kept away in a bag.
Under section 1 of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953, it is an offence to have a weapon in a public place unless you have lawful authority or a reasonable excuse. This might include carrying tools for work or transporting gardening equipment.
